Position Summary

First Nations Power Authority (FNPA) is recruiting a Nation Energy Manger to support energy transition for one southern Saskatchewan First Nation. Directly reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Nation Energy Manager will be responsible for providing administrative and logistical leadership in executing a multi-year capacity building project specific to the nuclear energy transition in Saskatchewan. The Nation Energy Manager will be responsible for reviewing, writing, communicating and submitting precise work plans and reports based on quarterly and annual progress in the capacity-building project.

 

Key Responsibilities

•Administer a multi-year capacity building contract in the electricity sector.

• Serve as a liaison between the FNPA, Nation Chief and Council, SaskPower and other provincial and federal government agencies.

• Coordinate and facilitate professional meetings.

• Coordinate and facilitate community events.

• Assist with the development of engagement tools and materials, such as surveys, presentations, and infographics.

• Build a foundation of knowledge in the community relating to Saskatchewan’s electricity sector.

• Coordinate and facilitate travel for site visits and meetings in Saskatchewan, across Canada, and internationally.

• Attend workshops and conferences in Saskatchewan and across Canada.

• Act as a key contributor to the Nation’s energy plan.

• Be engaged in education and professional development opportunities related to electricity, nuclear power, project management and community engagement.

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

•An equivalent combination of 8+ years of education and experience within the environmental, Indigenous Relations, business development, business administration, electricity and/or nuclear power sectors.

• Baseline knowledge of electricity with a strong desire to learn more.• Enthusiasm for community energy development and Indigenous participation in energy projects.

• Self-Motivated, driven, and organized with excellent time management skills.

• Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write effectively for a variety of audiences, including First Nations.

• Skilled working with budgets and communicating financial reports.

• Experience arranging travel and accommodations for events and/or conferences.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment.

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

• Able to follow directions, office practices, procedures, meet deadlines, and respect confidentiality.

• Knowledge of First Nations culture, history, treaty, and inherent rights.

• Must have a valid Class 5 drivers’ licence, clean driving record, and a reliable vehicle.

• Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable, and Child Abuse Checks.
