Organization Summary:
First Nations Power Authority (FNPA) is North America’s only Indigenous-led, owned and governed not-for-profit helping to de-risk power projects with power utilities and energy companies. FNPA’s membership base consists of 165+ Indigenous communities and Industry partners from around Mother Earth. FNPA bridges the gaps between industry, government and Indigenous communities by providing expertise in the Canadian electricity sector, with a focus on building capacity, knowledge transfer, wealth creation, equity ownership in renewable energy, carbon neutral and nuclear development. FNPA assists with access to capital programming, procurement design and delivery of Indigenous-led projects.
Position Summary:
The Energy Coordinator/Energy Advisor (applicant) will be undertaking home energy audits on First Nations communities as part of our Energiesprong initiatives in Saskatchewan. Energiesprong is an innovative new way to increase home energy efficiency and to decrease carbon emissions through efficient home heating. FNPA has been chosen by the Government of Canada to help engage stakeholders and Indigenous communities to create a best practices report and to determine how to run the program in Saskatchewan for the benefit of First Nations communities and the environment.
The successful applicant will be responsible for completing home energy audits, teaching about energy efficiency, writing best practice reports, and providing vital support to various departments. Their attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to multitask is essential in this role.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Residential energy audits
• Data entry & research
• Outreach and engagement to Indigenous stakeholders and retrofit companies
• Assist with planning events such as annual general meetings, annual forum, workshops, member meetings and of Board of Directors meetings
• Proofreading, editing, formatting and creating documents
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Maintain effective communication with team members, visitors and partners both verbally and in writing
Qualifications & Work Experience:
• A minimum of a high school diploma
• Post-secondary education is an asset
• Background in building science, home inspection, construction, HVAC is an asset
• Solid understanding of Indigenous culture and values
• Ability to demonstrate FNPA’s core values: accountability, trust, transparency and collaboration
• Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills
• Availability to travel on an as needed basis
• Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and time management skills in maintaining and updating records, files and documentation, maintaining an organized office environment
• Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications
• Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
• Must maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information, documents and data.
Reporting: This position will report to the Business Development Manager
Location: FNPA Head Office, Regina, Saskatchewan
Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience
Hours: Full-time (40 hours / week); Monday to Friday
