Tansi! Bigstone Cree Nation (BCN) is comprised of three communities: Calling Lake, Chipewyan Lake, and Wabasca. Bigstone was signed into the “Treaty 8” agreement in 1899 and was provided with funds along with reserve lands to govern for growth of its membership.
The Business Entities consist of: oilfield services, logging, trucking, and gas stations.

As of the 2016 census, B.C.N. membership rounds off to five-thousand members; on and off reserve.
Where We Are
Wabasca is also known as Wabasca-Desmarais and is the Headquarters for the Bigstone Cree Nation. It is located on the Highway intersection of Highway 813 and Highway 754, 123 km Northeast of Lesser Slave Lake.
B.C.N. is considered to be a Woodland Cree People and include five reserves (Reserve 166, 166A, 166B, 166C, and 166D) which is surrounded by the Municipal District of Opportunity #17 lands.

All of the business entities are owned by BCN and are operated for the sole benefit of BCN band members.
