In 2018, FNPA began working with Beaver Lake Cree Nation (BLCN) on developing a Community Energy Plan (CEP) for their community. BLCN was interested in using rooftop solar to offset the costs of electricity in their community. They currently have a number of community building already utilizing solar energy including Amisk Community School, the Health Centre, the Administration Office, and the Community Hall.
The CEP established an energy and emissions baseline, reviewed community and residential buildings energy usage, made recommendations for energy efficiency and conservation measures and provided an implementation plan for community and utility-scale renewable energy projects for Beaver Lake Cree Nation.
The BLCN CEP is currently in final draft form and is currently being finalized with Chief and Council.
